Electrocardiography is a non-invasive procedure od graphic acquisition of heart electric activity. It provides diagnostic assistance in diagnosis of cardiac arrhythmias (if present in the moment of acquisition), abnormalities considering coronary artery disease such as Angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, as well as previous myocardial infarction or other cardiac damage.

It has high sensitivity and specificity but limited value as a prognostic marker for further major acute coronary events.
