Abdominal ultrasound is a non invasive diagnostic procedure in which using the ultrasound waves the solid abdominal organ become visible while the hollow organs like stomach and intestines are less visible for assessment. It is used to diagnose disease of gastrointestinal organ, the urogenital system, lymph system and part of the vascular system.

It requires certain patient preparation and has certain limitation depending on the condition of intestinal system.
