Treadmill stress testing is non invasive procedure in which a cardiovascular system is put to a physical burden by fast walking with various speeds and inclinations, in durations define by age. It is used to diagnose a problem with heart blood vessels (coronary artery disease, Angina pectoris), high blood pressure, follow up of patients with coronary disease and high blood pressure, as well as differential diagnostics of certain arrhythmias and other cardiac conditions.
The procedure requires certain preparations of the patient such as well controlled blood pressure, and certain physical endurance. It also has limitations connected with sex, physical condition, condition of the lungs, joints, previous cardiac conditions (heart failure, heart attack, malignant arrhythmias.)
