HOLTER-ECG is a non-invasive procedure where the heart electrocardiogram (ECG) is monitored and acquired for period of 24 hours after which the recording is analysed by a doctor.
During the recording time the patient should perform his/hers every day activities without increasing or decreasing them.
It is used to diagnose various types of arrhythmias (especially paroxysmal and episodic ones), disturbances in heart impulse conductions, and in diagnostic of coronary disease
Limitations can present movements of the upper part of the body when muscle currents interfere with cardiac creating false changes in ECG. If the arrhythmia does not appear during the recording false negative results are produced and the procedure may be necessary to be repeated.
