Dopler ultrasound is a non-invasive and painless diagnostic procedure for evaluating the conditions of the carotid arteries as well as the assessment of the blood flow. It is used to diagnose and assess carotid stenosis, assess the impaired blood flow and establish the need for further investigations and eventually ways of treatment.

Can have limitations due to anatomical variations of the carotid arteries.
